Dr. Something & the Pipin’ Hot Love Engines are a post-electric quintet performing songs about science fiction and technology on the following lo-tech instruments: guitar, banjo, upright bass, varying percussive devices, lap steel, accordion and clarinet. They also feature rich vocal harmonies and counterpoint and have a catchy sound heavily influenced by tin pan alley jazz, sixties pop, old time and traditional ballads. Dr. Something & the Pipin’ Hot Love Engines consist of vocalist/guitarist/accordionist/clarinetist Alison Dennis (Coney Island Cartel), banjo slinger and lap steel slider David Percy, upright bassist Matt Batchelder, drummer Sean Welsh and vocalist/percussionist Erika Garlock.
