Dr. Something & the Pipin' Hot Love Engines

Hi groovy folks! Just wanted to let you know that my solo “MAXi” single about everyone’s favorite transit center, Beaverton TC, is available for streaming and name-your-own-price download here: Beaverton TC MAXi Single.

In addition, this recording will be released in cassette format at my May 15th show with Spirit Duplicator at Mississippi Pizza. The cassettes will be free for anyone who signs up for the Dr. Something email list (I send out an email to the list about once a month with updates on upcoming live shows and other band or solo music news).

In addition to this, Spirit Duplicator and I will be delivering a very special musical and theatrical performance about villainy and suburban mass transit, and word has it Spirit Duplicator is working on a cassette release of his own!

My show with We Were the Unreal was fantastic. Mumbles and Dust were on fire, delivering an incredible hybrid freestyle/improv theater performance. They also brought a fantastic duo with them called The Oakland Birds, two folksy ladies who sing beautiful, slighty jazzy songs accompanied by banjo and ukulele.

What’s even more awesome, is that The Oakland Birds will also be performing with me this Wed at Roadside Attraction! And it’s free! Come check us out.

I’ve got another solo show coming up. This one is FREE and all ages!

My friend Baraka and his talented colleagues from Oakland, known collectively as We Are the Unreal will also be performing this night. They are a roving troupe of freestyle improv poets and musicians.

Hey all! Happy 2010!

Just a quick update: We have slightly altered our band name.

We are now Dr. Something & the Pipin’ Hot Love Engines instead of the Poppin’ Fresh Love Engines.

We feel that this name retains the general ridiculousness of the original while avoiding any erroneous appearance of a Pillsbury endorsement, as well as any cease and desist letters from them. (Apparently they’ve trademarked the phrase ‘Poppin’ Fresh.’)
